5.5 CREATING YOUR OWN EXERCISE(S)

Creating your own exercises is all about taking ownership of your own learning.

You could jot down ideas from the local paper/ads etc.; maybe call it shopping list exercise as this is really easy then.

Take a piece of paper and write 10 items in one column on the left, and 10 items in another column on the right.

Connect the item on the left with the item on the right (and by now you know what to do here).

Fold it or cover one column, and see how you get on.

Aim for this:

Get the time down from 3 minutes to 2 minutes, and if you have some competitiveness in you: get it down to one minute.

Once you can do this exercise in less than two minutes you are truly on the path of remembering success. Now you have mastered the first step in remembering techniques.

Two remarks:

1. This exercise is very short. If you don’t have time to do this, please don’t continue. You cannot succeed if you don’t have the motivation to invest a couple of minutes per day.

2. Are you a slow starter into the day? Actually, I am. I do need my cup of coffee in the morning. And then doing this exercise, wow, it really jogs all the brain cells and I feel awake and very excited to tackle all the things I have to do. So therefore: Learning the steps of how to remember also helps me to have a more active life in general.

Create your own exercises and take ownership of your learning.

Create your own exercises and you are moving towards remembering success.
